How does wireless charging work?

Inductive wireless charging is a way to charge your phone without any annoying cables. Most Android phones of the last few years can use Qi wireless charging pads. Qi is a wireless charging standard shared by most companies for compatibility. All you have to do is plug in the charging pad and place your phone on it.

The process uses electromagnetic induction to charge the battery of your Android phone. This involves a series of very flat coils inside the charging pad. The pad creates an electromagnetic field that powers your phone in order to charge the battery.

Initial Troubleshooting

There are two most common issues that can prevent an Android phone from charging wirelessly on a tablet. The second is that there may be no power flowing to the pads. Check to make sure the charging pad is plugged into a power source.

The second is that your Android does not support wireless charging, which older models do. Check this list and make sure your Android can charge wirelessly. Another thing you can do is to check for software updates.

What if wireless charging keeps pausing?

It can be very frustrating when your Android phone stops charging every few seconds on your tablet. This happens when your Android does not have a clean connection to the charging pad.

An easy way to fix this problem is to pick up your Android and reposition it. Make sure your phone is directly in the center of the charging pad.

It is also a good idea to wipe the charging pad and the back of your Android. A layer of dust or other debris can cause charging problems.

My Android wireless charging is slow

This can be a problem with any charger, wired or not. Make sure your wireless charging pad is plugged in strongly enough. Try plugging the charger into multiple outlets.

This problem usually occurs when your wireless charger is connected to a USB port on a laptop or desktop computer. The ports on these devices are not strong enough to charge modern Android smartphones quickly. For the fastest results, plug the charging pad into a wall charger.

Enable fast wireless charging

Some devices allow you to disable this feature. So it may be worth exploring whether you need to enable it again. You will find it in the battery settings. The location may vary by model.

On my Samsung phone, you can find it under Settings -> Device Maintenance -> Battery -> Charging. Anything more confusing than that, I might as well enter the Konami code into my phone ......

Anyway, if your phone is compatible with fast wireless charging, you should be able to find this setting in roughly the same place!
