As a China Pharmaceutical Equipment Factory, I would like to share with you.

Filters are intended to help purify the media. Filters are used in many different industries to capture and contain contaminants and other debris while allowing the desired liquid to pass through. In the pharmaceutical industry, membrane filters are often used to help disinfect and deionize water before being used in industry. There are many factors to consider when choosing the right filter for the system.

Filtering system

In the pharmaceutical industry, there are various commonly used filtration systems. Surface filtration, depth filtration and ultrafiltration are all systems used for different purposes in the industry, and each filter system has many advantages when used. Some key information about each type of filter system is provided below.

Surface filtration

The purpose of designing a surface filtration system is to retain particles on the surface of the material being filtered. As the filtration continues, these particles will accumulate over time and form a solid layer of material on the surface. This layer is often referred to as the "cake layer" and helps to increase the efficiency of the filter as it is formed. Although the initial filtration rate using a surface filter is only about 55%, once the filter cake layer is formed, the filtration rate will increase to 100%. During the surface filtration process, as substances continue to accumulate in the system, the flow will eventually decrease, which requires occasional maintenance. The system needs to be stopped to clean the filter.

Deep filter

In a deep filtration system, the material flows through many different filter layers along a long path before leaving the filter system. The filtration process is used to remove particles, soluble materials and colloidal materials from the fluid. At the beginning of the channel, the larger particles are removed first. Then, as the material flows through the depth filter, smaller and smaller particles are filtered out.

The deep filtration system uses backflow for cleaning, which reverses the flow of the medium, thereby dredging through the holes in the filter. Compared with surface filtration, depth filtration systems are more expensive. However, they can last longer than surface filter systems.

Ultrafiltration

Another common filtration system used in the pharmaceutical industry is ultrafiltration. These systems are usually used when a filter pore size of 0.01 microns is required. Ultrafiltration can not only remove small particles from the material stream, but also remove certain viruses or other microorganisms that may be present in the stream, such as bacteria and protozoa. The material that passes through the filter membrane is called "permeable material", and the material that is blocked and filtered out is called "retentate material."
