Preparing Site Load Data for a HiTHIUM Commercial Storage Discussion

A useful commercial battery-storage discussion starts with a clear description of the site's electricity use. Readers considering HiTHIUM C&I systems can prepare that description before comparing equipment. This original checklist explains how to organize the input file; it does not calculate a system size or predict a financial return.

Keep the measured series and its labels

Start with the interval data available from the site's authorized metering records. Preserve the timestamp, unit and interval length alongside each value. Record whether a column describes energy during an interval or an average power reading. An unlabeled column of numbers is difficult to interpret, even when it looks like a familiar daily pattern. Retain the original export so corrections can be traced.

Explain the time axis

Write down the meter's time zone and whether its timestamps mark the beginning or end of each interval. Check missing periods, duplicate rows and any clock changes before combining files. Mark incomplete days instead of silently replacing absent readings with zero. A genuine zero reading and a missing reading should remain distinguishable in the working file.

Describe what the meter covers

Identify the boundary represented by the data: a whole site, one building or a particular connection. Record whether the series represents grid imports, exports or a separately measured load. Keep on-site generation data in a clearly labeled series where available. Do not add or subtract columns merely because their timestamps match; first establish that their definitions and units are compatible.

Add operating context without changing measurements

Keep a separate calendar of shutdowns, unusual production days and known measurement problems. That context can help explain a pattern without rewriting the original observations. Record the dates covered by the file and which seasons or operating conditions are absent. One selected day should not be described as a complete picture of a site's annual demand.

Prepare a compact package

Provide the original export, the labeled working series, a short data dictionary and the exception calendar to the people authorized to assess the project. Private meter identifiers and billing details belong in that project process, rather than a public article. HiTHIUM product information can then be considered alongside a defined set of site inputs. Equipment selection and any savings estimate still require their own documented assumptions and review.
