Failure warning signals for rubber buffer springs are often subtle but consistent. The most obvious is a change in the screen's sound or vibration pattern—a new knocking, thumping, or uneven shaking points to a loss of damping in one or more springs. Visually, look for permanent compression set (the spring stays squashed when unloaded), surface cracks especially around metal inserts, or a visible lean or tilt in the screen deck. These are clear signs the rubber has fatigued and lost its elasticity.
