What is GMS certification?

When it comes to Google, everyone knows it, but when it comes to GMS authentication, few people know it, so exactly what is Google GMS attestation?

1, What is GMS?

GMS full name is GOOGLE MOBILE SERVICE (GMS). GMS is the core of GOOGLE's Android system, the driving force of GOOGLE's development and promotion of Android, and the soul of Android system.GMS currently provides services including Search, Search by Voice, Gmail/Google Mail, Contact Sync, Calendar Sync, Talk, Maps, Street View, YouTube and Goole Play(formerly known as Android Markert).

2, What is GMS authorization?

Androind is open source, but Google charges for Search, Search by Voice, Gmail/Google Mail, Contact Sync, Calendar Sync, Talk, Maps, Street View, YouTube, And Google Play(formerly known as Android Markert), which requires authorization (the vendor needs GMS certification).

3, Level of GMS certification

Level 1 is free to use the Android operating system, but does not have GMS embedded;

Level 2 is an embedded GMS service, but the phone cannot be branded with the Google logo.

Level 3 is embedded with all GMS services and can also use the Google logo.

4, Certification process

There are two ways to obtaining a GMS license:

The following process is applicable to the manufacturer of Google GMS Distribution disclaimer.In case you are already an ODM or brand manufacturer of Google GMS, Google will distribute GMS APK for testing and provide you with GMS certification service.However, from the end of 2011, Google received no new OEM/ODM manufacturer as GMS.

1. ODM or brand manufacturers sign relevant agreements with Google;

2. ODM or brand manufacturer shall provide GMS certified models to Google (including manufacturer, device name and other information);

3. Fill in the relevant form provided by Google, and Google will provide GMS package and DRM to ODM or brand manufacturers after approval;

4. ODM or branded manufacturers integrate DRM and GMS packages into the software and perform CTS and CTS Verifier tests;

5. After passing the CTS & CTS Verifier test, send the successful prototype to Google for verification;

6. After the certification is passed, Google will inform the ODM or brand manufacturer.(It should be noted that GMS certification is not directly related to hardware test certification related to the device, such as Wi-Fi, BT, OR HDMI.)

1. The product specifications and prototypes of the models that need to be certified will be sent to Google for GMS certification. The standards of the prototypes: four hardware-level certification tests (WiFi, BT, HDMI and Battery) and software CTS tests (including CTS itself and CTS Verifier);

2. The customer provides the prototype to AnyDATA, a third-party company, which installs GMS package in the customer's prototype and tests CTS and GTS. After the test is passed, the customer will provide part of the prototype and related files to Google;

6. Impact of GMS certification on exporters

GMS authentication is not mandatory and has little impact on most users.But GMS as a qualification can distinguish between competent and non-competent vendors, which can be a barrier to entry at the marketing level.Will orders be reduced because there is no certification?At the customer level, customer orders that value suppliers' qualifications will be affected.
