Common faults of submersible sewage pump and troubleshooting methods

Failure phenomenon 1: insufficient flow or no water

Reason analysis:

  • 1. Motor reversal

  • 2. The flow path is blocked

  • 3. Excessive concentration of the pumped medium

  • 4. The head of the device is too high, or the head of the selected pump is much lower than the actual need

  • 5. Impeller is badly worn

  • 6. The liquid level is too low, causing the pump to suck air

  • 7. Install check valve in reverse direction

Exclusion method:

  • 1. Correct motor steering

  • 2. Remove sundries. It is better to set a filter gate around the pump (but not to install a filter net at the pump inlet)

  • 3. Dilute the medium with water to reduce the concentration.

  • 4. Try to reduce the head of the device (for example, change to a large diameter pipe or smooth pipe, reduce the number of elbows, or increase the arc radius of elbows), or switch to a pump with a higher head

  • 5. Replace the impeller.

  • 6. Adjust the position of the float switch to make the lowest liquid level meet the requirements of the installation size drawing.

  • 7. Correct check valve direction

Malfunction 2: unable to start

Reason analysis:

  • 1. Lack of phase

  • 2. Impeller jammed

  • 3. Winding connector or cable break

  • 4. Stator windings are burned out

  • 5. Control electrical faults

Exclusion method:

  • 1. Check the circuit and eliminate the missing phase.

  • 2. Clear sundries, it is better to set a filter fence around the pump (but not to install a filter net at the pump inlet)

  • 3. Repair after checking with ohmmeter

  • 4. Repair and replace windings or stator

  • 5. Check the control cabinet, repair or replace electrical parts

Fault phenomenon three: stator burn out

Reason analysis:

  • 1. Lack of phase

  • 2. Impeller jammed

  • 3. Short circuit of winding connector or cable

  • 4. Stator windings are burned out

  • 5. Control electrical faults

Exclusion method:

  • 1. Configure the protection control motor and check the circuit to clear the missing phase fault.

  • 2. Remove dirt, tighten impeller, fastening screw and stainless steel spring washer; Water dilution medium; Flush and unblock the cooling system

  • 3. Replace the mechanical seal or "O" seal ring.

  • 4. Tighten the fasteners of each part.

Fault no. 4: excessive current

Reason analysis:

  • 1. The pipe and impeller are blocked

  • 2. High sealing or viscosity of pumped liquid

  • 3. The head of the selected pump greatly exceeds the actual need, or the use conditions change and the head of the device is greatly reduced, so that the pump runs beyond the recommended flow rate

Exclusion method:

  • 1. Clean the blockage in the pipeline and impeller

  • 2. Change the density or viscosity of the pumped liquid

  • 3. Turn off the outlet valve to reduce the flow, or replace the pump with a lower head.

  • (1) check whether the sewage pump line and the joint are loose. Turn the sewage pump by hand to see if it is flexible.

  • (2) add bearing lubricating oil into the bearing body, observe that the oil level should be in the center line of the oil mark, the lubricating oil should be replaced or supplemented in time.

  • (3) screw down the water inlet screw plug of the sewage pump body and infuse the water (or slurry). Self priming sewage pump

  • (4) close the gate valve of the outlet pipeline, the outlet pressure gauge and the inlet vacuum gauge.

  • (5) start the motor and check whether the motor steering is correct.

  • (6) start the motor. When the sewage pump is in normal operation, open the outlet pressure gauge and the inlet vacuum pump, gradually open the gate valve, and check the motor load.

  • (7) try to control the flow and head of the sewage pump within the range indicated on the label, so as to ensure the sewage pump to operate at the highest efficiency point, in order to obtain the maximum energy saving effect.

  • (8) during the operation of sewage pump, the bearing temperature shall not exceed 35℃ above the ambient temperature, and the maximum temperature shall not exceed 80℃.

  • (9) if there is abnormal sound of sewage pump, stop immediately to check the reason.

  • (10) when the sewage pump is to be stopped, first close the gate valve, pressure gauge, and then stop the motor.

  • (11) in the first month of operation, the sewage pump shall change the lubricating oil after 100 hours, and the oil shall be changed once every 500 hours thereafter.

  • (12) often adjust the packing gland to ensure that the leakage of the packing chamber is normal (in order to drip leakage is appropriate).

  • (13) check the wear of the axle sleeve regularly, and replace it in time after the wear is large.

  • (14) when the sewage pump is used in the winter season, after stopping, it is necessary to open the pump body below the water screw plug to remove the medium. Prevent frost cracking.

  • (15) sewage pump is out of service for a long time, it is necessary to disassemble the pump, dry the water, the rotating parts and the joint with grease.
