Potassium hydroxide is usually sold as translucent pellets, which become tacky in air because KOH is hygroscopic. Consequently, KOH typically contains varying amounts of water (as well as carbonates - see below). Its dissolution in water is strongly exothermic. Concentrated aqueous solutions are sometimes called potassium lyes. Even at high temperatures, solid KOH does not dehydrate readily.

Storage: 

Potassium hydroxide easily gets damp and decomposed. Once coming into contact with the air, it will absorb carbon dioxide from the air and become degraded. It should therefore be stored in a dry place with intact packaging to keeep it from becoming damp. And it should be stored and carried separately from any acids. Aluminum, tin, lead, zine and its alloys, explosives, peroxides, ammonium salts,inflammables,etc.Puring transportation it should be protected with covering, handle it with care to avoid packaging damage.
