There are various transformers for different purposes in the power system, such as power generation, distribution, transmission, and utilization of electricity.
Different types of transformers include step-up transformers, power transformers, distribution transformers, instrument transformers composed of current and voltage transformers, single-phase and three-phase transformers, autotransformers, etc.
This type of transformer has lower ratings, such as 11 kV, 6.6 kV, 3.3 kV, 440 volts, and 230 volts. Their rated voltage is less than 200mva, used in distribution networks, by reducing the voltage level of the power system, distribution, and utilization of electrical energy on the user side, thereby providing voltage conversion.
The main coil of the distribution transformer is made of copper or aluminum wire coated with enamel. A thick tape made of aluminum and copper is used to make the secondary transformer, which is a high-current, low-voltage winding. Resin impregnated paper and oil are used for insulation.

Distribution transformers below 33 kV are used in industry, and 440 and 220v are used for home use. It is smaller, easy to install, has low magnetic loss, and the load is not always full.
Since it does not work under constant load as it does during the 24 hours, its load is at its peak, while at night, its load is very low, so the efficiency depends on the load cycle and is calculated as the efficiency of the whole day. Distribution transformers are designed for maximum efficiency of 60-70%
In urban areas, many households use single-phase distribution transformers, while in rural areas, depending on the load, a household may require a transformer.
Multiple distribution transformers are used in industrial and commercial fields.
Used in wind farms, where electrical energy is generated by windmills. There, it is used as an energy collector to connect substations away from the wind power system.
The above information is provided by the distribution transformer substation factory.
