Tata plans to increase the annual production capacity of the Tower Bhushan Steel Plant (TATASTEELBSL-BSL) from 5.6 million tonnes to 8.3 million tonnes.
The steel plant was recently acquired by Tata Steel, formerly known as India's Bhushan Steel (BHUSHANSTEELLTD). Tata Steel acquired BHUSHAN Steel Co., Ltd. on May 18 at a price of 353 billion rupees (about $4.8 billion).
At that time, the actual annual production of the steel plant was only 3.5 million tons, far less than its design capacity. Tata said the integration of two companies has officially begun. Today, Bhushan Steel's slabs are shipped to Tata Steel for two rolling, While Bhushan steel mills procure coal through Tata's procurement channels and use Tata's product delivery routes.
