How to install Flat Solid Polycarbonate Sheet?

As everybody knows that Flat Solid Polycarbonate Sheet  or solid polycarbonate sheet offers great properties including:

l 200-300 times stronger than glass, 25 times stronger than tempered glass, 20-30 times stronger than Acrylic ;

l 50% weight of glass;

l Up to 90% light transmittance;

l Can be fabricated by common tools;

l Can be bent at standard bending radius about 175 times more than the thickness;

But do you know how to install flat solid polycarbonate sheet?

It is easy, just follow the installation method step by step.

1. Clear the frames, and confirm there are acid-base components including oil and grease on the surface;

2. Calculate the expansion value between solid polycarbonate sheets, Expansion Value= 7×10-5 * Length * Max Temperature difference, fox example:

The length of solid polycarbonate sheet is 150cm, the Max Temperature difference between daytime and night is 40℃, therefore

The Expansion Value=7×10-5*150*40=0.42cm

That means the gap between two solid polycarbonate sheets is 0.42cm at least.

3. Choose the right gaskets: the EPDM rubber, Silicone rubber, and Neoprene rubber will be preferred, if they are not available, do not use gaskets, please NEVER use PVC gaskets;

4. Choose right sealant, please use neutral silicone alcohol type, like Toshiba brand;

5. Choose electric motor saw with saw bit which material is tungsten carbide, fixed solid polycarbonate sheets before sawing them. Don’t move the PE film before finishing the installation.

6. The bending radius will be 175 times more than the thickness. But if the solid polycarbonate sheet will be used the interior, the bending radius will be 150 times more than the thickness;

7. Cleaning the surface of solid polycarbonate sheet by the Neutral cleanser, ethyl alcohol or isopropanol, NEVER use methylbenzene, acetone, oil, tetrachloromethane.
