Precipitated barium sulphate is a meticulously crafted synthetic barium sulphate powder with an ultra-fine particle size of 0.7 µm, providing exceptional performance in gloss and chemical resistance for paint, ink, coatings, plastics, rubber, chips, friction sheets, ceramics, glass, electronics and other fields.
• High Purity: Chemically synthesized to achieve a BaSO4 content that can reach 99% purity.
• Fine Particle Size: With a particle size of 0.7 µm and a narrow distribution, it's perfect for high-gloss applications.
• Chemical Inertness: Completely inert, offering high resistance to outdoor exposure and chemicals.
At present, there are two main production processes of precipitated barium sulfate: glauber's process and sulfuric acid process.
The process is to convert natural barite ore into barium sulfide by calcination with coal, and then react with glauberite (sodium sulfate) to produce precipitated barium sulfate and by-product sodium sulfide.
The sulfuric acid process converts barium sulfide into barium carbonate through carbon dioxide, and then reacts with pure sulfuric acid to form precipitated barium sulfate
• Coatings: Used in high-end water-based and automotive coatings for added gloss and durability.
• Plastics: Acts as a reinforcing filler, enhancing the physical properties of the material.
• Inks: Increases the weather and aging resistance, ensuring vibrant and long-lasting prints.
• Rubber and Engineering Plastics: Improves resistance to aging and brittleness, enhancing product longevity.
