HEC has the properties of thickening, suspension, bonding, emulsification, film stabilization, dispersion, water retention, antimicrobial and colloid protection, and can be widely used in coatings, cosmetics, oil drilling and other industries.
Thickening
HEC is an ideal thickener for coatings and cosmetics. In practical applications, its thickening property combined with suspension, safety, dispersibility and water retention will produce more ideal results.
Pseudoplasticity
Pseudoplasticity is the property that the viscosity of a solution decreases as the speed increases. Latex paint containing HEC is easy to apply with a brush or roller and can increase the smoothness of the surface, which can also increase work efficiency; shampoo containing HEC has good fluidity and easy to dilute and disperse.
Salt tolerance
HEC is very stable in high-concentration salt solutions, and will not decompose into ions. When used in electroplating, it can make the surface of the plated parts more complete and brighter. More noteworthy is that it still has good viscosity when used in latex paints containing borates, silicates and carbonates.
Film forming
HEC's film-forming property can be used in many industries. In papermaking, applying a glazing agent containing HEC can prevent the penetration of grease and can be used to prepare other solutions for papermaking; in the textile process, HEC can increase the elasticity of the fiber and reduce mechanical damage to it. In the sizing and dyeing process of fabrics, HEC can act as a temporary protective film. When its protection is not needed, it can be washed off the fiber with water.
Water retention
HEC helps to keep the water content of the system in an ideal state. Because a small amount of HEC in the aqueous solution can achieve a good water retention effect, the system reduces the water demand when mixing ingredients. Without water retention and adhesion, cement mortar will reduce its strength and adhesion, and clay will also reduce plasticity under a certain pressure.
1. Application of HEC in coating industry:
High thickening effect: Provides excellent coating performance for latex coatings, especially high PVA coatings. When the coating is thick paste, no flocculation will occur. It can reduce the dosage, improve the economy of the formula, and improve the washability of the coating.
Anti-enzyme performance: good anti-mildew performance, providing sufficient paint storage time. Effectively prevent the sedimentation of pigments and fillers.
2. Application of HEC in daily chemical industry:
Daily chemical grade HEC has good mildew resistance, system thickening and rheology modification functions, good water retention and film-forming properties, giving the final product a full visual effect and all the necessary application properties.
Through fine refining in the production process, solvent residue and ignition residue are reduced to the greatest extent.
The surface treated HEC is cold water soluble and can be added directly to water as dry powder.
Avoid product agglomeration and uneven dissolution. The final aqueous solution is uniform, continuous and full.
3. Application of HEC in oil field industry:
HEC can be used as a thickener and cementing agent for oil well repair fluids, which helps to provide a clear solution with low fixed content, thus greatly reducing damage to the oil well structure.
In cement reinforcement operations, HEC can reduce the hydraulic friction of the mud and minimize the loss of water from the eroded rock.
