Tungsten alloy is an alloy composed of tungsten and other elements (such as nickel, iron, copper, etc.). Tungsten heavy alloys are made of tungsten based with two phase composites of Ni, Fe or Cu as additions to form a ductile matrix. Tungsten heavy alloys have good machining properties, excellent radiation resistance, lower expansion coefficient, high strength and modulus of elasticity which make it extensively used in balance weights for submarine and vehicles, aircraft components, nuclear and medical shields , fishing and sport tackles etc.
Tungsten Heavy Alloys are materials with a high tungsten content and low amounts of Ni, Fe or Ni, Cu. Some tungsten alloy is added Co, Mo or Cr etc. Their densities could be as high as 16.8~18.8g/cc.
Our tungsten heavy alloys give you many of the benefits of pure tungsten with improved machining capabilities. These alloys come in a range of stock shapes and are ideal for use in high-density applications or for radiation shielding. We stock a range of alloys from 90% to 97% pure tungsten in a matrix of nickel/copper or nickel/iron.
Look at our rod, bar, sheet, and plate options. We can provide custom sizes not in stock and have an in-house machine shop to produce your final products to your specifications.
• High melting point: high temperature resistance, can work in high temperature environment.
• High hardness: strong wear resistance, can withstand large loads.
• Low coefficient of expansion: small coefficient of thermal expansion and good dimensional stability.
• Good electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity: conducive to heat transfer and electrical conduction.
• Corrosion resistance: good resistance to most corrosive media.
Product Standard: ASTM B 777-07
We offers two series of Tungsten Heavy Alloys: W-Ni-Fe(magnetic) and W-Ni-Cu(nonmagnetic). Other alloys can be custom made.
