Characteristics of honing tube and rolling tube:
1. Processing accuracy
Rolling and honing can both improve the machining accuracy of parts, but honing can achieve higher machining accuracy. Due to finer abrasive grains and lower power, honing can achieve higher quality than rolling, making it suitable for parts with extremely high precision requirements;
2. Surface quality
Compared to honing, rolling produces deeper scratches and ripples, and does not improve surface smoothness as much as honing. Therefore, honing is more suitable for parts with high requirements for surface smoothness and hardness, while rolling is more suitable for processing large quantities of parts;
3. Applicability
Rolling and honing also differ in applicability. Honing is more suitable for small batch production. Meanwhile, due to the relatively simple process of rolling, compared with traditional machining techniques such as turning and milling, it can save a lot of time and labor costs.
Overall, rolling and honing are two commonly used surface treatment methods with the same purpose of improving the surface quality and machining accuracy of parts, but they differ in terms of machining accuracy, surface quality, and applicability. The corresponding processing method needs to be selected based on the specific production situation and requirements.
Advantages of rolling:
Improve the surface roughness, and the roughness can basically reach around Ra ≤ 0.08 µ m.
Correct roundness, ovality can be ≤ 0.01mm.
Improve surface hardness, eliminate stress deformation, and increase hardness by HV ≥ 4 °
After machining, there is a residual stress layer, which increases the fatigue strength by 30%.
Improving the quality of the fit, reducing wear, and extending the service life of the parts, but the processing cost of the parts is actually reduced.
