Cellulose gum or sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (sodium CMC) is a versatile ingredient that is used as a thickener, binder, emulsifier and stabilizer in food products. Together with xanthan gum, they are the most commonly used and most common thickeners in food applications. Here chemical sodium CMC cellulose factory shows its properties and applications.

Properties

Appearance

Slightly hygroscopic white or slightly yellow or gray odorless and tasteless granular or fibrous powder.

Solubility

In water: forms viscous colloidal solution with water. Cellulose gum is well soluble in water and easily absorbs water. When it dissolves in cold or hot water, it forms a colloidal solution.
In organic solvents: insoluble in methanol, ethanol, copper, chloroform, benzene and other organic solvents.

Viscosity

Generally the viscosity of its solution is related to the degree of polymerization of cellulose, solution concentration, pH, temperature, degree of substitution, etc.

What are the uses of cellulose gum?

1,Food

Food grade cellulose gum is mainly used as a thickening agent in our daily food. In terms of taste, it gives food a thicker and creamier character, making it more attractive to consumers than food without it.
It acts as a thickening, suspending, emulsifying, stabilizing and film-forming agent in many food products such as beverages, bakery, dairy products, dessert products and meat products.

2,Cosmetics

According to the European Commission Database of Information on Substances and Ingredients in Cosmetics, cellulose gum acts as a binder, emulsion stabilizer, film-forming agent, masking agent and viscosity control agent in cosmetics and personal care products.

3,Toothpaste

Its role in toothpaste is to completely mix the liquid and solid ingredients so that the toothpaste has the proper viscosity, brightness and smoothness during molding and flow.

4,Others

Other uses such as oil drilling, laundry Detergents, paper, textiles, mining, ceramics, etc. Carboxymethyl cellulose added in detergent mainly play a detergency, emulsifying, solubilizing and thickening role.

Packing and Storage

Packing :25kg kraft paper bag with PE inner, or other packing as clients request.

Storage: Store in cool, dry, clean, ventilated environment. Since the date of production, expiration date for CMC cellulose of daily chemical is 3-4 years. The products should be prevented from water and package bag damaging during transportation.
