A very popular and versatile item, stainless steel welded wire mesh is corrosion resistant, has a uniform appearance, and is available from stock or custom fabricated.

In addition to the corrosion resistance and clean appearance of stainless steel, another benefit of choosing stainless steel welded wire mesh is that the mesh will remain intact and strong because the wires are physically welded at each intersection. The strong and consistent welds make stainless steel welded wire mesh ideal for general industrial use because welded wire mesh can be cut into smaller sizes such as rectangles, squares or discs without fraying, which can occur when manufactured with woven wire mesh.

Like almost all wire mesh and wire cloth, stainless steel welded wire mesh is suitable for construction, agricultural, commercial and industrial applications. Also known as "green walls", these are a great garden solution for suburban homes with limited outdoor entertaining space, as they take up far less space than traditional "horizontal" gardens or potted plants. Plants grow on vertical wire mesh, stainless steel is critical for corrosion resistance, and welded construction is important for strength as plants grow and become heavier. They are also popular with architects for larger projects.

Using welded stainless steel mesh in the construction of bird houses is the only way to prevent potentially fatal zinc poisoning in birds, which occurs when they chew on galvanized wire mesh.

What size wire and mesh should you use for animal enclosures?

▷ Pet rabbits and small birds - 12.7 mm diameter 1.20 mm wire mesh

▷ Large rodents and parakeets - 12.7 mm diameter square mesh with 1.6 mm wire

▷ for cats and raptors - 25.4 mm square mesh with 1.6 mm diameter

▷ For large dog enclosures and cages, a 50 mm square mesh made of 3 mm diameter wire.

▷ Pest and rodent protection - 6.35 mm square mesh made of 0.8 mm diameter wire is recommended.

▷ Fox-proof fencing - When used as fox-proof fencing around chicken farms, the fence needs to be at least 1.8 m high and extend at least 0.5 m below ground level. 50.8 mm square mesh made of 2 mm diameter wire is recommended.
