How to unfold and install a new pvc mat roll ?

In order to improve the efficiency of transportation and handling, we will roll up the pvc mat roll before shipping. Before attempting to unfold the pvc mat roll, always allow the mat to fully warm up to (at least) room temperature. (Approximately 24 hours)

After the mat has warmed up, carefully unfold it and place it "bow" up (nail/splint facing down) on the floor, adding weight if necessary to hold the mat in place. The mat should gradually flatten for a few hours over a period of time (thicker mats may take longer).

Our pvc mat rolls are mainly made of vinyl, which can have the "memory" of the rolled shape, especially in cold weather. But don’t worry, just unfold the mat when you receive it and wait a few hours for it to level properly. Add some weight to the corners to speed up the process.

Thicker cushions may take longer, but usually everything should flatten out within 24 hours. If it is cold outside, we recommend letting it warm inside for about a day before unfolding. If the mat hardens due to the cold, this is just a precautionary measure to prevent any possible cracking.

Cold weather conditions

If your pvc mat roll is very cold when it is delivered, be sure to allow the cushion to warm to room temperature before unfolding.

Do not force open when unfolding. As it warms, it naturally flattens as the material becomes more relaxed. We recommend allowing approximately one day to warm up before opening and unfolding.

Techniques to expand/flatten faster

If possible, place the pvc mat roll in the sun or in a small warm room. Once the mat reaches 80 degrees, it will be able to relax more easily. The so-called "heat expansion and cold contraction" is the truth.

Place the weight on the unflattened area of the pvc mat roll. Pressing a heavy object on the mat will allow the mat to stretch, but it will take a while to achieve its purpose. In order to speed up, you can take the heat + weight method.

You can use a hair dryer to heat any stubborn parts of the mat that are not flat. This usually only applies to thicker cushions in cold climates.

To set it up super fast, put some hot water in the bathtub and then put the rolled up mat in it. Within 15 minutes, it will be very comfortable and relaxing, allowing you to flatten it.
