The days of going out without clothes have officially passed. We are now embracing the autumnal options with cardigans, sweaters and scarves galore. In the cold season, it is absolutely necessary to buy high-quality sweaters, and this year is no exception. Knitwear care is not only a necessary condition for longevity, but also makes it look as good as new. But we know that accidents in the washing machine may happen if you are not careful. So, to avoid any unnecessary accidents, take a look at our knitwear care guide.
When buying knitwear, the most important question may be how to wash? This seems obvious, but when it comes to knitwear care, we can't emphasize the importance of washing instructions too much. Every knitwear has different needs.
Can you put the knitwear in the dryer?
It is always risky to put knitwear in the dryer, as this will cause the clothes to shrink. However, each fabric reacts differently to heat. If possible, we recommend not to put your knitwear in the dryer, but pay attention to the advice on the care label.
Can you shrink the sweater?
Absolutely! If you want your sweater to shrink, put it in a dryer and dry it at a high temperature to achieve this effect! However, if this is not what you want, we’d suggest avoiding the tumble dryer at all costs.
How to prevent knitwear from bubbling?
Unfortunately, wearing your favorite sweater will inevitably wrinkle. However, there are ways to reduce the number of bobbling and remove them when they appear. Our top tips to avoid bobbling would be to ensure that when you wash your sweater, it’s inside out. If bobbles do appear, use a fluff roller, clothes shaver or knitwear comb to reduce the appearance.
How to dry a sweater?
Just like the washing guide mentioned above, most knitted sweaters should maintain the correct size and shape. It is best to lay the sweater flat instead of hanging it on a drying rack, and stretch it out gently to the correct shape whilst damp from washing.
How to store knitwear?
Hanging knitwear will cause it to be stretched and deformed, so we recommend using the space in your drawers and folding up your knitwear.
