Chemical fertilizers are usually divided into two types: macro-element fertilizers and micro-element fertilizers. What are the macro-element fertilizers? Macro-element fertilizers are fertilizers that are absorbed and consumed in large quantities by crops, such as nitrogen fertilizers, phosphate fertilizers, potash fertilizers, calcium fertilizers, magnesium fertilizers, and sulfur fertilizers.

Microelement fertilizers are usually referred to as micro-fertilizers for short. Refers to fertilizers containing micronutrients, which are less absorbed and consumed by crops (compared to macronutrient fertilizers). Although crops require very little trace elements, they are as important to crops as macro elements and cannot be substituted for each other. The application of micro-fertilizers must be based on nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium fertilizers to give full play to their fertilizer effects. At the same time, under different levels of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, crops respond differently to trace elements. Generally speaking, low-yield soils are prone to lack of trace elements; high-yield soils, as the yield level continues to increase, crops’ demand for trace elements will increase accordingly. Therefore, it is necessary to supplement the application of micro-fertilizers, but it would be wrong to attempt to reduce the application of macro-element fertilizers and only rely on the application of micro-fertilizers to obtain high yields.
Micro-fertilizers are chemical products that are used as fertilizers in agriculture, such as boron fertilizer, zinc fertilizer, and manganese, which have been proved to have certain biological significance through a large number of scientific experiments and researches. These micronutrient elements are indispensable for the normal growth and development of plants. Fertilizers, molybdenum fertilizers, copper fertilizers, iron fertilizers, and cobalt fertilizers are all micro-fertilizers. The percentages of these trace elements in the dry weight of crops are roughly: manganese 0.05%, iron 0.02%, zinc 0.01%, boron 0.005%, copper 0.001%, and molybdenum 0.0001%. Insufficient supply of any kind of quick-acting trace elements in the soil will cause special symptoms to crops, resulting in reduced yields, reduced quality, and even hopeless harvests. Someone may ask, since micro-fertilizers are so important, micro-fertilizers are not used in production.
Trace elements
All objects in the world, whether they are organic life forms such as plants, animals, and human bodies, or non-living inorganic objects such as minerals, rocks, air, and water, are composed of various chemical elements. According to research evidence, 107 chemical elements have been discovered in the world. The content of these elements in nature or various objects is very different. Some elements are high in content, while some are very low in content. For the chemical elements that exist in nature, according to the level or amount of content, they are divided into three categories: large elements (someone called macro elements), medium elements and trace elements. Macro elements are a general term for chemical elements with a high content, and trace elements are a general term for chemical elements with a very low content. Between the macro-elements and the trace elements are collectively referred to as the medium-weight elements.
