Cover Tape is a tape product used in the field of electronic packaging, in conjunction with carrier tape. Cover tape is usually made of polyester or polypropylene film as the base material, laminated or coated with different functional layers, and sealed on the surface of the carrier tape under the action of external force or heating, forming a closed space to protect the electronic components in the carrier bag.

According to the Cover Tape Supplier, the cover tape is mainly used in electronic component placement industry. It is used together with carrier tape to store electronic components such as resistors, capacitors, transistors and diodes in carrier tape pockets. The cover tape is sealed to the pocket formed by the carrier tape, forming a closed package to protect the electronic components from contamination and damage during transport. When the electronic components are mounted, the cover tape is peeled off and the automatic mounting equipment removes the components in the pockets in sequence by accurately positioning them through the carrier tape index holes and placing them on the IC board.

The peel-off force is the most important technical indicator of the cover tape. The placement manufacturer needs to peel the cover tape from the carrier tape, remove the electronic components encapsulated in the pouch, and place them on the board. During this process, the force of the cover tape peeling off from the Carrier Tape must be stable enough to ensure that the robot can be positioned accurately and that the electronic components do not jump or flip. The size of the electronic components produced is getting smaller and smaller, so the stability of the peeling force is becoming more and more demanding.

Optical properties include haze, light transmission and transparency. Since the markings on the electronic component chips encapsulated in the carrier tape pockets need to be viewed through the cover tape, there are certain requirements for the light transmission, haze and transparency of the cover tape.

To prevent electronic components from being attracted to the cover tape by static electricity, the surface of the cover tape usually has antistatic requirements. The level of antistatic is indicated by the surface resistance. The surface resistance of cover tapes is generally required to be 10E9-10E11.

Tensile properties include tensile strength and elongation. Tensile strength refers to the maximum stress that a sample can withstand before breaking. Similarly, elongation refers to the maximum deformation the material can withstand before fracture. Tensile strength is generally expressed in Newtons per millimeter, while elongation is expressed as a percentage.
