Sulfur fertilizer refers to fertilizers with a specified amount of sulfur. There are mainly elemental sulfur (ie sulfur). Sulfur fertilizer is mostly used as base fertilizer. The amount of application varies with soil and crop. The general dosage per mu is 10-15kg gypsum or 1.5-2.5kg sulfur; if it is used to dip the roots of rice seedlings (dip the roots), only 1.5-2.5kg gypsum or 0.5kg sulfur powder per mu. When correcting crop sulphur deficiency, 0.5%~2.0% sulfate solution can be used for foliar spraying (extra-root topdressing).

Sulfur can also promote the formation of nodules in legumes and increase the ability of nitrogen fixation. In addition, certain sulfur fertilizers also improve soil properties. For example, the application of sulphur powder or liquid sulphur dioxide fertilizer can reduce the pH of calcareous soil, thereby increasing the availability of phosphorus, iron, manganese, zinc and other elements in the soil; when gypsum is applied to alkaline soil, the calcium ions in it can be replaced in the soil colloid Sodium ions from the water form sodium sulphate (Na2SO4) and are discharged from the soil with water, thereby reducing the content of exchangeable sodium in the soil and reducing the harm of sodium ions to soil properties and crops.
