In terms of drinking water, long-term drinking of water with high hardness will cause diseases to the human body. In daily life, excessive boiler water hardness will cause pipe bursts and cause unimaginable consequences. Therefore, it is very important to use boiler water treatment chemical to soften water.

Causes of scale formation in ordinary water

Whether it is tap water, groundwater, rivers, lakes, and seawater, common water contains a variety of soluble compounds. The solubility of some substances in water changes significantly with the change of temperature. Among them, the solubility of calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate decreases with the increase of temperature. When the temperature rises, the calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate originally dissolved in the water are difficult to dissolve in the water again, and they precipitate to form sediments. These sediments can be in the form of flocs, powder, or deposited on the surface of containers and pipes. It forms what people often call scale.

Hard water and soft water

Water with more calcium and magnesium ions is called hard water, and water with less calcium and magnesium ions is called soft water. Hard water and soft water are just popular names, and there is no concept of a standard amount. In life, water with a hardness lower than 3mmol/L is generally referred to as soft water, 3-6 as ordinary water, 6- 8 is called harder water, and more than 10 is called high hard water. (Industry adopts completely different standards. In the industry, only water with a hardness of <1 is generally called soft water, and water with a hardness of 1-10 is often referred to as hard water in general, and water with a hardness of >10 is often referred to as high-hard water).

The harm of hard water in production and life

Since the deposition of scale has a significant impact on people's life and production, both production water and domestic water have certain requirements for hardness index, especially if the boiler water contains hardness salts, it will be formed on the heating surface of the boiler. Scale, thereby reducing the thermal efficiency of the boiler, increasing fuel consumption, and even damage to parts due to local overheating of the metal wall, causing pipe bursts. Therefore, it is necessary to soften the water for low-pressure boilers; to soften and desalinate water for medium and high-pressure boilers.

Choose The Suitable Water Softener

In water treatment, industrial grade stpp is mainly used as a water softener. Sodium tripolyphosphate has the performance of an ion exchanger and can form a soluble complex with calcium, magnesium and iron ions in the water. Na3MP3O10 (M is a metal ion), It shields the effect of calcium and magnesium hard salts and prevents the formation of calcium and magnesium deposits. In addition, because of its surface activity and strong buffering effect (the best buffering effect in the pH range of 414), it can also be used as a corrosion inhibitor.
