At present, my country's medical masks are mainly divided into three types: medical protective masks with the highest protection level, Medical Surgical Masks commonly used in invasive operating environments such as operating rooms, and ordinary-level disposable medical masks.

Medical protective masks have a good fit with the wearer’s face. They can filter particles in the air and block pollutants such as droplets, blood, body fluids, and secretions. The filtration efficiency of non-oily particles can reach more than 95%. Personal protective equipment commonly used in response to airborne diseases. Common medical protective masks are arched, butterfly, etc.

Medical surgical masks are commonly used medical masks in operating rooms and other environments where there is a risk of body fluids and blood splashing. They can block blood and body fluids from passing through the mask and contaminate the wearer. At the same time, the filtration efficiency of bacteria is more than 95%, but the filtration efficiency of particles is limited. And most of them are rectangular designs, and the tightness with the face is not as tight as medical protective masks. Common medical surgical masks are strap type, ear hook type, etc.

Ordinary Medical Masks have many names. Medical Masks without the words "protection" or "surgical" on the name are all ordinary medical masks. This level of masks does not require blood barrier function, nor does it have tightness requirements, so It is only used in general medical environments. Common general medical masks are mostly ear-hook type, and their appearance is similar to ear-hook surgical masks

Some details need to be paid attention to when wearing a mask:

The filtering performance of the mask is mainly determined by the filter material of the middle layer. The currently commonly used filter material is a meltblown non-woven fabric made of polypropylene ultrafine fibers. It is light and thin, has good air permeability, and can efficiently filter the air. particulates. The thicker the filter material is, the better. The performance of meltblown non-woven fabrics produced by different manufacturers varies greatly, and the specific performance needs to be measured by professional equipment. Masks can only have good filtration efficiency if they contain this kind of filter material. If they are only ordinary needle punched non-woven fabrics and spunlaced non-woven fabrics, without melt-blown non-woven fabrics, good filtration effects cannot be achieved.

In addition to good filter materials, Protective Masks should also have good shape design and nose clip design. The better the mask fits the wearer's face, the better the protective effect, which can prevent pollutants from entering the mouth and nose from the edges of the mask, especially the gaps on both sides of the nose. Therefore, when wearing a mask, the nose clip at the bridge of the nose should be pressed tightly, and the length of the mask strap should be adjusted appropriately so that the mask fits the face as much as possible.

When wearing medical masks, choose the appropriate level type according to the type of pollutant transmission and risk, not too high or too low. Medical protective masks with high protection levels have better protective effects, but due to the high level of filter material, good tightness, and higher respiratory resistance, wearing them for a long time will increase breathing burden and cause breathing difficulties and other discomforts. Medical surgical masks and medical protective masks can block the pollution caused by blood and body fluid splashing, but if you really need to block the pollution of airborne particles and pathogenic microorganisms, please choose to wear medical protective masks.
