Poisoning failure
Oxygen sensor poisoning is a frequent and difficult-to-control failure, especially for cars that often use leaded gasoline. Even new oxygen sensors can only work for thousands of kilometers. If only a slight lead poisoning followed by a case of unleaded petrol, the lead on the oxygen sensor's surface can be eliminated and normal operation resumed. However, often due to the excessively high exhaust temperature, lead invades its interior, hinders the diffusion of oxygen ions, and makes the oxygen sensor ineffective. In addition, silicon poisoning is common in oxygen sensors. Generally speaking, the silicon dioxide generated by the combustion of silicon compounds contained in gasoline and lubricating oil, and the use of silicone gas emitted by silicone rubber sealing gaskets will invalidate the oxygen sensor. Therefore, good quality fuel and lubricating oil should be used. .
When repairing, correctly select and install rubber gaskets. Do not coat the sensor with solvents and anti-adhesives other than those specified by the manufacturer.
