Dust masks are essential protective equipment for workers engaged in and exposed to dust. There are many types of masks on the market, and their uses are also very different. There are paper masks, cotton gauze masks, activated carbon masks, anti-bacterial masks for food processing, white gauze masks for surgeons, and electric welding protection for electric welders. Smoke and dust masks, as well as dust masks that specialize in dust operations, self-priming filter anti-particle respirators, and gas masks for preventing toxic and harmful gases, and so on.
Therefore, when purchasing masks, it is necessary to meet the needs of workers in different working environments. Improper selection will cause waste, and in serious cases, it will cause injury to the body of the operator and cause occupational diseases.
Purchase dust masks
To purchase dust respirators, select the type of dust respirator (such as oily/non-oily respirator, the required model, etc.) according to the type, concentration and diameter of dust particles in the working environment according to the GB2626-2006 standard. According to research, particles below 5 microns in diameter and generally above 2 microns in diameter will enter the lungs directly through the respiratory system, causing damage to the lungs; if the dust concentration is high, dust particles less than 5 microns should be selected for dust prevention with high dust resistance. Masks, such as KN95, KP95, or KN100, KP100 models, can block fine dust and reduce lung injuries suffered by workers.
Dust prevention measures and the use of masks
Dust in the working environment is a fatal hazard to contacts and operators. Employers should first take dust reduction and dust removal measures to protect the health of workers.
In addition to installing ventilation and exhaust equipment, keeping the working environment well ventilated, adopting wet operations, isolating dust, etc., workers must also be equipped with dust masks that meet national standards. The replacement of the mask depends on the actual situation. If it is damaged or the breathing resistance increases, it should be replaced. Operators must wear dust masks as required. The mouth and nose are completely close to the inner wall of the mask, and there should be no gaps to prevent dust from entering the lungs through the mouth and nose. Some workers may not adapt to wearing masks at first, but if they insist on wearing them every day, they will adapt. If it is hot and it is uncomfortable to wear a mask, you can request to replace the self-priming filter type dust-proof respirator. This kind of mask leaves more space for the mouth and nose, and it feels much more comfortable when breathing. Dust masks should be clean, especially the parts in contact with the nose and mouth. Since the filter element of the dust mask and the disposable mask cannot be washed, they must be replaced if they are dirty.
