Cold work mold steel is a common production mold steel in the industry. It has good plasticity and a wide range of uses. This article introduces several common cold work mold steels today.

Impurities in mold steel will have a relatively large impact on its performance. This article uses electrolysis to extract stable oxide inclusions in powder metallurgy high-vanadium cold-work mold steel, performs X-ray diffraction on these impurities, and then uses instruments to measure the results. It is found that the oxide impurities of cold work mold steel mainly include alumina trioxide, silicate, silica, and magnesium spinel (MgAl2O4). Among these four oxides, alumina has the highest content, accounting for more than 90% of the stable oxide impurities. The oxygen content in the alloy was measured by the inert gas-pulse heating method to verify the accuracy of the inclusion extraction method. Quantitative analysis showed that the mass fraction of stable oxide inclusions in the alloy was 0.026 5%.

Mold Steel

Cr12MoV mold steel

When Cr12MOV mold steel is working, due to the relatively large deformation resistance of the processed material, the working part of the mold bears great pressure, bending force, impact force, and friction force. Therefore, the normal cause of scrapping of the mold steel is generally worn, and there are also premature failures due to fracture, collapse, and deformation. Compared with cutting tool steel, Cr12MoV steel has many points in common. It requires molds with high hardness and wears resistance, high bending strength, and sufficient toughness to ensure the smooth progress of the stamping process. The difference lies in the shape and The process is complicated. Moreover, the friction area is large and the possibility of wear is high, so it is difficult to grind. Therefore, it is required to have a higher wear-resistant mold with a large impact force when working, and because the shape is complex and easy to produce stress concentration, it is required to have higher toughness; the mold size is large and the shape is complex, so higher hardenability, Smaller tendency to deform and crack.
